Oh, snow. Finally you're here. Only bummer was getting up at 6 a.m. to shovel it. Oh well. That's living in Norway for you. And hey, [livejournal.com profile] maureenlycaon, your package made it. Hurrah.

I got me a Twitter now. I am a slow sheep, I guess.

I really have no words for this one.

In summary:
1. Editor comments that one story in an analogy didn't work for him.
2. Author of the story finds this informal one-line review.
3. Author suggests editor kill himself.
4. Author suggests editor kill self and cat.
5. Internets boggle.

Bit more on the situation, including the author in action.

WHAT. THE. HELL. This rather puts some of the hissyfits I've seen some fanfic authors have to shame. Seriously, who does shit like this and even remotely thinks it a sane thing to do?

A clinic nurse first removed her intrauterine birth-control device without permission, says the patient in a federal action, then told her that "having the IUD come out was a good thing," because "I personally do not like IUDs. I feel they are a type of abortion. I don't know how you feel about abortion, but I am against them."

You know, whatever personal views on abortion? Some shit you JUST DON'T DO. That's majorly one of them.

Is this the best job in the world?

The Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef is a newly created position. There are a few minor tasks that need to be taken care of, but the most important duty is to report back to Tourism Queensland (and the world) and let us know what’s taking place on the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef.(...) The Island Caretaker will be based on Hamilton Island – the largest inhabited island in the region. It’s located just off the coast of Queensland with a wide range of restaurants, activities, shops and tours. The temperature is warm all year round and the combination of blue skies, crystal water and pure sands forms the backdrop to an ideal island life.

HIRE ME QUEENSLAND. Seriously, half a year doing that? Yeah baby. It would be smashing fun and shiny and I've already lived in Queensland, so it would be a welcome return. I think I shall apply, if only for the faint dream of it. I'll have to sort out a way to make a video, though.

Norwegian Nazi!zombie movie on the loose. No, really. It's showing at Sundance. I'm not sure if I should apologise to the world or ask it bow to the awesome.

Enjoy your last day of Bush, Americans!

Added you on Twiiter. Baa. ;)

Oh. My. Sweet. Jeebus.

I've seen people go nutty over fanfic, but that... I lack words that adequately describe the sheer o.O that that brought on.

Re: the IUD-moving nurse? Y Halo Thar, Malpractice Suit. If I was the patient, I'd be thinking, Cha-Ching!, just paid for my kid's college!

Except that the new HHS rules make anything against the provider's "conscience" illegal to enforce, and nevermind the patient.

Fortunately, I hear Obama's going to be giving the fisheye to all the last-minute rules.

I've been waiting for a test case where somebody dies because their Jehovah's Witness physician doesn't believe in transfusions.

Hopefully we can get the Supreme Court case to roll this nonsense back without a death.

Zeus on a frakking cracker.

(Psst, did you get my card? And do you mind beta-reading my first BSG fanfic?)

Your Christmas card? Yeah, think so. I got a few after New Year's.

Er, I am not a great choice for beta. English is not my native language, so I always miss stuff and it would feel like shortchanging you.

I see. Well, it wouldn't hurt to look at the characterization and the tone of the piece. I want it to be emotional, but being a teenager I can't really achieve anything other than childish fluff and humor. >.<

Mine is the one that has the "CSI: Winter wonderland" thing at the front. I picked it because I know you like CSI. :]

Looks pretty nice, yeah. Apply, so we can be in the same country again. :P

Or... we could jobshare? Hehe.

I'm not sure if I should apologise to the world or ask it bow to the awesome.

Bow to the awesome, definitely. You're Norway, after all. ;)

AUSTRALIA!!!!! Everyone in my office wants to apply for this job. While I'm honestly certain that I wouldn't get the job, I think I need to apply anyone. Just in case ;-P *misses Queensland*

I think I'd have hurt that clinic nurse. Laughing about it? What the hell, man! I hope that that patient wins the suit, and that that nurse loses her certification and is hit with a HUGE fine. That kind of an attitude is just inappropriate it. Honestly.

Also, anything with zombies? Is an automatic win. No matter how corny or cheesy or poorly done. This is a fact of life.

My husband is making me completely mental today so it was nice to read your post about the insane author. Kind of puts things into perspective for me. It could be worse.

And wtf with the nurse? I totally hope there is a follow up story where the nurse loses her license or something along those lines. Ugh.

The nurse thing just boggles my mind. Apparently that wasn't even the first time she'd done it to a patient. Just, seriously, what the hell?
